Student Council

Student council is a mixture of students who have gotten write-up’s, and students who are always good. A lot of eight graders have gotten write ups for misbehaving for a sub. Also a lot of kids have been getting write ups and seem to not care. So student council is helping Mrs. Holguin Dotson reduce the write ups to 50%. That's what the student council's mission is to do before leaving this school. It's to show and be an example to the sixth and seventh graders.

As of last Friday all (A) categories no longer exist in eight grade. Every thing eight graders do will be counted as a category (B) write up. They will get sent home that same day. They will also get another write up if they don’t bring it back. Once they get two (B) categories they will not be able to attend the end of the year celebration. Student council is doing this to get kids to behave better.

If they misbehave for a sub, they get a (C) write up and are suspended for three days. This is one of the main problems with all the eight graders, they will get I.T.S, and when they come back. They will have to finish a really thick packet. They will stay there until the packet is done. I think this new discipline plan will work and get kids to behave more. We are teaching them to be more responsible for their own actions.

CHESS CLUB

CHESS CLUB

Do you want to play Chess, do you want to learn how to play Chess, and then you should join the Chess club. Only 20 people are allowed to join, but so far the club only has 10 people in it. If you have nothing to do at home then you should join the Chess club. The chess club starts every Tuesday from 4 15- 5 15. There is no time limit to joining the Chess club, but, once the Chess club gets 20 people, the Chess won’t allow any more people to join.

The Chess club is a fun game to learn. Evan MR.G likes the Chess club. He started getting into Chess at a young age. If your one of the kids who likes strategy games, then you should join the Chess club. Who knows, you might think that your good, but their might be someone who could beat you.

Besides, it keeps you out of trouble and it gives you opportunities to meet new people. You might even make new friends and you could learn new strategies. Soon MR.G hopes to challenge other schools at chess. So come and join the chess club, who knows you might like it.

The Go Green Club

By Shamarie Cisneros

The Go Gree Club is a recycling club for Camino Real Middle School students. After school every Tuesday and friday a couple of students stay after school to pick up the trash through the whole school. They also go to all the teacher's rooms to get the recycling bin. People actually used to taunt them and call them trash pickers and throw trash on the floor on purpose! So they had to change it to after school. It's very small but they want to build it up and enter competition. If anyone wants to join they have Awareness Meetings in the morning. You can see Mrs. Carpenter in room 443.

Spelling Club

by Dennis Ray Duran Jr.

The spelling club meets after school until 5:00 every other Tuesday. At the spelling club, they practice for the spelling bee and play board games like Scrabble. If you would like to join, you just show up at room 549. The spelling club started this year. There are only five students in the club at the moment.

It is not too late to join the spelling club. The spelling club hasn't been in a spelling bee yet but hope to make it to State. The first match will be in December. If you join now that will still be enough time to learn all the words you need to know.

Only two kids are allowed from Camino may go to the district spelling bee.
